Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is expected to undertake a cabinet expansion next week, with 33 to 35 ministers likely to be sworn in, according to sources. Sources indicated that Adhikari is expected to retain the crucial Home and Finance portfolios in the new council of ministers. The proposed cabinet is also expected to include more than half a dozen women ministers. Sources further stated that the Health Department is likely to be assigned to a legislator with a medical background, while the Education Department is expected to be entrusted to a legislator holding a doctoral degree. Discussions regarding the allocation of portfolios and the composition of the new cabinet are understood to be in the final stages, with the swearing-in ceremony expected to take place in the coming week.
